Abstracts
MBSE, Requirements Engineering and Test Automation: the new Paradigm
Speaker: Yves Génevaux
The talk will cover the consequences of the traditional approach (writing requirements with natural languages) for the system validation activities. We will look at the improvements brought by the use of Model-Based System Engineering (essentially SysML) but also the limits of this more modern approach. A short demo will illustrate this new paradigm for both requirements engineering and functional test automation.
Yves Génevaux is a Graduate Engineer from the Ecole des Arts et Métiers. He has worked in the field of system and software engineering for embedded systems for more than twenty-five years. He has collaborated with many companies in avionics, railways, automotive, energy and defense worldwide. In Dassault Systèmes, Yves is in charge of the CATIA Stimulus portfolio.
METRIC (Embedded Sensor Network In Spacecraft Structures Compatible With Digital Factories)

In the development of structural space components, the main processes in the development cycle can be divided into the activities: manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing (MAIT). By utilizing state-of-the-art technology such as digital twin, embedded sensor network, and additive manufacturing, it is expected that costs related to the MAIT activities can be reduced and the confidence in the quality assurance increased. The METRIC project is a joint effort between ESA, Jotne, FFI and, IDEAS as part of the ARTES program that will develop a demonstrator implementing the aforementioned technologies. By collecting and archiving all relevant data from the entirety of the development process, including data from a sensor network both mounted directly on the part and in its environment, the METRIC project aims to establish a digital twin (DT) of the component. The DT will be based on the open standard ISO 10303 in order to ensure interoperability and long-term relevancy of the archived data. The METRIC demonstrator will also lay the foundation for further developments in regard to analytics of the collected data.
Henrik Galtung is a project manager with Jotne. He received his Master´s degree in mechanical engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. For his Master´s thesis he was a member of the project team for HYPSO, a nanosatellite built by students and researchers at the Small Sat Lab at NTNU.
Standard Based Digital Twins with Flexible IoT Solutions – a report on state-of-the-art research at Jotne IT
Speaker: Kjell Bengtsson
Kjell Bengtsson is a Vice President at Jotne EPM Technology with a background in Mechanical Engineering and a diploma in Marketing. Kjell has been actively involved with the ISO 10303 (STEP), and other related standards for the last 30 years and is currently working with Open Standards Based Digital Twin implementation projects in the most complex aeronautics, space and defense sector projects. Further, Kjell also manages the Jotne extensive R&D portfolio of projects with the EU and the European Space Agency (ESA).
